Purple Tide captures Rock County Invite

BELOIT - The Beloit Memorial boys swimming team made it five straight titles at the Rock County Invitational Thursday, held at the Beloit Memorial Natatorium.

The Purple Tide finished with 709 points, easily out-distancing second-place Janesville Parker's 495, Craig was right behind Parker with 470 points, while Milton finished with 406.

The usual suspects came through for the Tide again in this meet. Ben Saladar, Anthony Jacobson, CJ Light and Kana Won combined to take home first place in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:45.32.

Jacobson won the 200 IM (2:07.44) and the 100-breaststroke (1:04.71), while Light won the 50-free (23.82) and Saladar took home first in the 100-fly with a 56.22 and the 100-backstroke with a 56.37.

The Tide's 400-free relay team of Saladar, Light, Jacobson and freshman Ben Sill swam a 3:30.35 to win the race.

• PREP WRESTLING: TURNER 38, EDGERTON 33: The Trojans squeaked out a victory Thursday night that gave Trojans head coach Matt Ries his 200th career dual meet victory.

Turner picked up pins from Jon Torsini (145), Tre Bivens (160), Drew Ries (195), and Trey Griinke (220). Picking up wins via the decision were Devon Harbison (16-1 tech fall) and Andres Beltran (138).
