HARTLAND, Wis. - The Rock County Fury stumbled to a 2-0 loss against Arrowhead on Friday, but got another crack at the Warhawks in their Turkey Tournament on Saturday and knocked them off 4-0.
"The first game we had plenty of shots on net, but couldn't get any to fall for us," Fury head coach Luke Steurer sid. "(The second meeting) the girls adjusted well and were putting a lot more pressure on the goalie."
Sarah Edler put the Fury on top in the second period with a shot from the point. Momentum totally swung in RC's way in the third period. Anika Einbeck scored the next two goals and Alyssa Knauf added a fourth.
The Fury outshot the Warhawks 51-12. RC goalie Olivia Cronin stopped 12 shots.
"Our defense did a great job of stopping shots from getting to her and the forwards back-checked hard all game to help in the defensive zone," Steureer said.
RC bounced back from its opening loss in the tournament with an 11-3 rout of the Brookfield co-op Glacier. Einbeck had five goals and two assists. Alyssa Knauf has six assists and a goal while Haley Knauf had three goals and three assists. Olivia Combs and Amery Stuckey each had a goal and an assist. Sara Loedrke posted her second playmaker (three assists) of the season. Backup goalie Brooke Teubert played a solid game with 16 saves.
