CHICAGO - The Beloit College women's basketball team fell to Spalding University (Ky.), 62-40, in a tournament hosted by North Park University.

Sophomore forward Christy Melton moved into the Beloit College record book with 20 rebounds, the fourth-most recorded by a Buccaneer in a single game in program history.

The downside was that there were plenty of rebounds when the Bucs were shooting. They hit only 24 percent from the field compared to Spalding's 42.

Dani Strejc led the Bucs with 12 points while Laren Glaser had 11. Glaser also had three steals, two assists and was one rebound short of a double-double.

• Saturday, Beloit fell to North Park, 72-40, shooting just 26 percent and committing 26 turnovers.

Glaser led the Bucs with 16 points. Melton and Kelly McLean had 13 and 10 rebounds, respectively.

• UP NEXT: The Bucs will host Millikin in their home opener at Flood Arena at 7 p.m. Thursday.
