Cold-shooting Bucs fall to Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - For the second straight game, a rough first half proved fatal for the Beloit College men's basketball team.

The Buccaneers shot just 31 percent in the first half while Coe College shot 65 percent on its way to an 84-60 victory Saturday afternoon.

Coe used a 30-10 run over the final 11:37 of the first half to take a 44-25 lead.

As they had in a season-opening loss at Carthage, the Bucs regrouped and played a much better second half. They were outscored by just five in teh final 20 minutes of the game.

Beloit shot 37 percent for the game while Coe shot 58.5.

Senior Tristan Shoup led the Bucs with 14 points and six assists. Darin Empereur had eight points, three steals and four assists while Andrew Walters chipped in a game-high 14 rebounds.

• UP NEXT: The Bucs head to Milwaukee to play Wisconsin Lutheran at 7 p.m. Saturday.
