BC spikers go 1-3 in Ripon

RIPON - After dropping a pair of matches on Friday in the Red Hawk Invitational hosted by Ripon College, Beloit College's women's volleyball team split two matches Saturday.

The Bucs swept Marian University, 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 27-25), but fell to St. Mary's, 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16).

Senior setter Paige Wimbrow was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

The Bucs swept Marian for the second time, having knocked off the Sabres in a five-setter on Tuesday.

Aryssa Harris posted her breakout match of the season against St. Mary's, registering a match-high 18 kills and adding 13 digs. Jade Mosquera had 21 digs.

Wimbrow totalled 107 assists in three of the team's four weekend matches. She added four service aces, 26 digs, 11 kills and two blocks.

The Bucs are off until Sept. 24 when they host Maranatha Baptist.

• MEN'S SOCCER: The Bucs fell 3-0 to Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., Saturday.

Forty fouls were called and six yellow cards issued.

Beloit hosts Rockford University at 4:30 p.m. Thurday.

• WOMEN'S SOCCER: Mikaila Davis recorded her first collegiate goal off an assist from Makenna Downing, but Beloit fell to unbeaten 4-0 host Augustana, 5-1, Saturday.

Goalies Conner Keegan-Lloyd (six saves) and Audrey Ketterer (four) combined for 10 saves.
