BMHS tennis swept by Cougars

JANESVILLE, Wis. - The Beloit Memorial girls tennis team was shut out by a strong Janesville Craig squad Monday at Palmer Park in Janesville.

The Purple Knights, with strong numbers but still-developing skills, were able to manage just seven total games against the Cougars' experienced squad.

No. 1 singles player Bella Moore was defeated by Kerrington Sauser 6-1, 6-0. No. 2 singles Claire Boggs failed to win a game against Lucia Hyzer.

At the No. 3 singles position, Diya Patel fell to Aiko Wolf, but put up Beloit's best performance, falling 6-2, 6-1.

No. 4 singles player Emily Servianno fell 6-0, 6-1 to Myrka Ceballos, while the No. 1 doubles team of Fatima Morales and Jayda McKinley didn't break through for a game against Jordyn Schoreder and Allison Grund.

No. 2 doubles team Yocelyn Camacho and Amanda Quinonez lost to Madison Dem and Autumn Tullar 6-1, 6-0, while Leslie Cervantes and Karla Martinez fell 6-0, 6-0 to Ellah Turrene and Rebecca Frank.

The JV team was also swept, with No. 1 singles player Mariana Cartenez the only Beloit player to win a game.

The Knights will be back on the courts Tuesday when they host Madison West.
