ROCKFORD, Ill. - Hononegah graduate Taylor Frommer showed she's ready for collegiate competition Saturday night when she was the top female finisher in the 35th Annual State Street Mile, held in downtown Rockford.
Frommer, who will run for the University of Illinois-Chicago beginning this fall, won with a time of 5:02.5, eight seconds faster than Kristine Burgess of Lake Bluff, Ill.
Frommer qualified for the IHSA Class 4A state meet in both track and cross country multiple times during her high school career, and will run both cross country and track for the Flames.
Other local top finishers included Roscoe's Jenelle Ehlers, who placed third in the 30-to-34 female group with a 6:39, and Roscoe's Mike Gille, who placed third in the male 17-to-24 group with a 4:32.6.
On the youth side, Clinton's Quin McCabe won the boys 13-14 group with a 4:56. Eliza Pfarr of Clinton won the 11-12 group with a 6:02, while Amaya Flickinger, also of Clinton, placed second in the 7-8 group with a 7:09.
