GRAND CHUTE, Wis. - The Beloit Snappers had a successful weekend in Grand Chute, winning games against Wisconsin both Saturday and Sunday.
The Snappers took a 2-1 victory on Sunday when they plated a pair of runs in the eighth inning.
Trailing 1-0, John Jones led off the frame with a single, and Cobie Vance followed with a base hit of his own.
After Joseph Pena sacrificed both runners over, a wild pitch plated Jones to tie the game, and Ryan Gridley's RBI grounder scored Vance with the go-ahead run.
After putting a pair of runners on in the ninth, Charlie Cerny induced a game-ending grounder to shortstop to secure the win.
Joe DeMers was terrific for the Snappers, throwing six innings of five-hit ball while giving up just one run.
Brandon Withers (2-2) picked up the win in relief with 1 1-3 scoreless frames, while Cerny got the game's final five outs to notch his third save of the season.
In Saturday's game, the Snappers came out on top, 5-2.
Beloit scored three runs in the third inning and held a 3-2 advantage in the seventh when Ryan Gridley hit a two-run home run to provide the final margin.
Bryce Conley (2-3) picked up the win with five innings of two-run ball, while Richard Guasch pitched the final four innings out of the bullpen and allowed no runs on just two hits.
The Snappers and Timber Rattlers will meet in the finale of their series Monday at noon.
