Snappers tip Chiefs in 11

PEORIA, Ill. - The Beloit Snappers picked up their third win in the last four games with a 6-5 triumph in 11 innings over Peoria Tuesday night.

The Snappers pushed across the go-ahead run in the 11th when Cobie Vance grounded into a double play to score Marcos Brito.

Charlie Cerny (1-2) picked up the win after two terrific innings. Cerny struck out five in two scoreless frames, despite the Chiefs getting both inning started with a runner on second and no outs.

After Peoria scored the game's first run in the first inning, the Snappers broke ahead with three runs in the third. Payton Squier's double scored a pair of runs, while Anthony Churlin plated Squier with a double of his own to make it 3-1.

The Chiefs responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to vault back in front 4-3.

John Jones cranked his third homer of the year, a solo shot in the fourth, to tie the game, but the Chiefs again responded with a score in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.

Lester Madden drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game in the eighth inning, setting up extra innings.

Wandisson Charles was terrific out of the bullpen with three scoreless frames. Michael Danielak pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Chase Cohen, who allowed five runs in four innings.

The Chiefs and Snappers will battle in a doubleheader Wednesday, with the first pitch scheduled for 11:35 a.m.
