CLINTON, Iowa - The Clinton LumberKings turned the tables on the Beloit Snappers Tuesday.
A day after the Snappers recorded a comeback victory, the LumberKings rallied from a 4-0 deficit to even the series at a game each with a 5-4 win.
Beloit had a curious day offensively. Nick Ward hit a first-inning grand slam to account for all four of Beloit's runs on the afternoon.
It was the first home run of the season for Ward.
The Snappers led 4-1 heading into the sixth inning, when a Sean Reynolds two-run home run brought Clinton to within 4-3.
The LumberKings took the lead in the seventh inning in unconventional fashion, as a Brayan Hernandez sacrifice fly scored both Marcos Rivera and Thomas Jones to make it 5-4.
Aiden McIntyre got the start for the Snappers and allowed one run on two hits over four innings. McIntyre struck out six while walking one.
Bryce Conley took over for McIntyre and went the rest of the way, allowing four runs and three walks while taking the loss to move to 0-1 on the season.
The two teams will play another day game Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
