CLINTON, Iowa- The Beloit Snappers won their second consecutive game Monday night, using a big comeback to accomplish the task.
The Snappers trailed 4-1 heading into the eighth inning before they exploded for four runs to take a 5-4 lead.
Lorgan Farrar hit a two-run single to bring the Snappers to within 4-3, and Anthony Churlin reached on a critical error by LumberKings second baseman Christopher Torres that allowed both John Jones and Farrar to streak home to give the Snappers the lead.
Charlie Cerny worked the final two innings without allowing a run to notch his first save of the season. Jamito Lebron allowed a run in his inning of work, but qualified for the win to improve to 1-0 on the season thanks to Beloit's eighth inning uprising.
Beloit pitchers allowed 11 hits and three walks, but Clinton went just 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position.
Farrar and Payton Squier each had two hits for the Snappers.
The two teams will meet again Tuesday at 11 a.m., when the Snappers will go for their third straight victory.
