BELOIT -- Mother Nature proved to be a terrific closer for Beloit College's baseball team Monday.

After being bounced in the opener 13-7 by St. Norbert, the Buccaneers hung on to win the nightcap 10-9 as the contest was shortened to seven innings by lightning.

Beloit got off to a great start in Game 2 with seven runs in the first two innings. The Green Knights plated the first two runs of the game in the top of the first, but the Bucs quickly answered. James Wicker singled to left center to bring in Garrison Ferone and Jalen Davis to knot the game 2-2.

Bronson Balholm followed with a sacrifice fly to left field that was deep enough for Ethan Conley to score to claim ta 3-2 lead. Mitch Campbell extended the advantage with an RBI double to right field.

SNC added one in the second, but Beloit again had an answer. Ferone knocked in the first run of second with a triple to right center. Davis followed with a double to left for an RBI and Conley made it three straight extra base hits with an RBI double to right center.

The Green Knights eventually reclaimed the lead in the fifth 9-7. In the bottom of the inning Matthew Celentano beat out an infield single for an RBI. A wild pitch allowed Campbell to score to tie the game 9-9 and another SNC miscue plated Celentano to give Beloit the 10-9 lead that held until lightning caused the game's stoppage in the seventh.

Four Bucs tagged multiple hits in the game including Nick Schmidt, Ferone, Wicker and Campbell. Wicker added two RBI and two runs scored in the game. Davis was a perfect 1-for-1 adding three walks, two runs scored and an RBI.

Reliever Logan Long picked up the win, allowing just two hits and no runs in two innings of work.
