OSHKOSH, Wis. - Several members of the Beloit Memorial boys track team got their seasons off to a terrific start at Wednesday's Oshkosh Large School Invitational.
Highlighting the meet was the terrific performance by the Purple Knights' 4x400-meter relay team. The quartet of Shelvin Garrett, Eric Bridges, Kobe Chandler and T.J. Kilgore took first place with a time of 3:35.98.
Chandler also put up a 52.27-second clocking in the 400, good for a second-place finish. Garrett also recorded a top-five individual finish, placing third in the triple jump with a distance of 43-feet, 5.5 inches.
The Purple Knights' other top-five finish came in the form of the 4x200 relay team, which placed fifth with a 1:37.18. The team consisted of Bridges, Garrett, Kilgore and Luis Perez.
The Knights, who finished seventh out of 18 teams, are coached by Mark Woelfel and Bernard Bray.
