Four local wrestlers were able to advance to the WIAA State tournament with strong showings at various sectional meets around the state.
Brodhead-Juda senior Jackson Hauri made it four straight trips to the state meet by winning his 152-pound Division 2 Adams-Friendship Sectional.
Hauri (38-2) was the runner-up at state last year, and will be looking to finish atop the podium to cap his terrific career.
Beloit Turner's Devon Harbison also won his bracket at the Adams-Friendship Sectional. Harbison, a 120-pound junior, will be making his first trip to state.
Beloit Memorial's Tyler Sireci finished second in the 195-pound category in his sectional, losing to Stoughton's Brooks Empey. Sireci will be making his first trip to state.
Parkview's Korben Brown recorded a third-place finish in the Division 3 Mineral Point Sectional. Brown competed in the 152-pound bracket.
• IHSA STATE TOURNAMENT: Hononegah's Giovanni Cassioppi capped his outstanding career with a fifth-place finish in the 145-pound bracket.
Cassioppi earned a pair of victories to advance to the semifinals, then dropped a pair of matches to place fifth.
Hononegah heavyweight Paul Fay went 1-2 to end his terrific season.
