PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Beloit College received first-place performances from Eva Laun-Smith in the triple jump and its 4x200 relay team to highlight its efforts in the UW-Platteville Invitational Saturday.
Laun-Smith leaped 11.15 meters (36-feet, 7-inches) to win the triple jump. The foursome of Aminah Crawford, Lena Ramsey, Genesis Dade and Aleeshah Heinzen won the 4x200 relay in a season-best time of 1:49.07.
Laun-Smith, Heinzen and Ramsey combined to take three of the top eight spots in the long jump. Laun-Smith was second in 5.43 meters (17-9.75). Ramsey was fifth in the event (5.23 meters, 17-2) and Heinzen was eighth (5.07 meters, 16-7.75). Heinzen was also fourth in the triple jump (10.70 meters, 35-1.25).
• Laun-Smith picked up a runnerup finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.13 seconds).
Crawford posted an individual top five in the 60 dash with a season-best 8 seconds. Ramsey was fourth in the event.
Melissa Pelkey had a season-best 2:23.26 for sixth in the 800. She joined Crawford, Dade and Heinzen in the 4x400 relay with a season-best 4:17.66 for fourth.
Linnae Capuder tied for eighth in the pole vault (2.65 meters, 8.85).
The men were led by a fourth-place finish in the 4x200 relay (Jason Dorman, Isreal Murray, Desire Mukucha, Isaiah Wisdom) in 1:39.40 and a fourth place by Dan Arkes in the 3,000 (8.56.71).
Mauricio Penn was 10th in the 400 (53.21).
