BELOIT - Beloit Memorial's boys hockey team stayed with Sun Prairie for a period Tuesday night, but the Cardinals then tallied seven unanswered goals in a 10-2 Big Eight Conference victory at Edwards Ice Arena.
The Purple Knights scored first, on a goal by 6 with 5 and 11 assisting 4:47 into the contest. The Cardinals scored the next three goals, by Travis Kernan, Benett Halbleib and Kaden Brunson, before Beloit got back on the board on a power-play goal by 17, assisted by 5 and Kyle Hanaman.
Sun Prairie opened the second period with a pair of power-play goals and tacked on an even-strength goal before the end of the period for a 6-2 advantage.
The Cardinals added four goals in the third period. Halbleib, Kernan and Brunson each finished with two goals in the game.
Beloit goalie Aidan Wright finished with 60 saves.
