Devils win RVC title at Turner

BELOIT - The Evansville/Albany Blue Devils won their third straight Rock Valley Conference wrestling title, held Saturday at Beloit Turner.

The Blue Devils finished with 251.5 points, easily outscoring second-place Whitewater's 200.5. Beloit Turner was the top local finisher, placing fifth with 134 points. Brodhead placed seventh, Clinton was eighth and Big Foot placed ninth.

Turner's Drew Ries (195 pounds), Clinton's Zach Wynstra (182) and Brodhead-Juda's Jackson Hauri (152) all took home conference titles.

Second-place finishers included Devon Harrison (120) of Beloit Turner, Raul Rojas (145) of Big Foot, and Turner's Cody Krueger (220).

Placing third was Jayson Starr (138) and Brian McCullough (145) and Braden Erb (113), all of Brodhead-Juda, and the Beloit Turner duo of Johnson Moran (126) and Andres Beltran (132).

• In the Trailways Conference Championships, Parkview placed sixth, while Johnson Creek edged out Dodgeland for first place.

Korben Brown (152) was the lone Parkview champion, while Paul Keintz (113) placed fourth and Luke Schwengels (170) placed third, as did Chase Carratt (195).

• The Hononegah Indians placed second in the IHSA Class 3A wrestling regional Saturday, with several individuals moving on to the sectional meet.

Huntley easily won the team title, finishing with 230.5 points to Hononegah's 133.

Giovanni Cassioppi (145) and Kaleb Etnyre (220) each placed first, while Paul Fay (285), James Bowers (195), Jarrett Kinney (170) and Zach Fausel (126) each placed second.

Also qualifying for sectionals with a third-place finish was Dylan Sayles (138).
