Hononegah boys drop second straight game

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Hononegah boys basketball team fell to 1-2 in NIC-10 play with a 65-49 loss at Jefferson Wednesdya night.

The Indians allowed the J-Hakws to score 42 second-half points as they blew open a tight game.

Nick Pierson led Hononegah with 24 points, accounting for nearly half of the Indians offensive output.

The J-Hawks nailed 10 3-pointers, including five from Jaquavion Robinson, who finished with a team-best 17 points.

Hononegah will host Harlem Friday night.

• GIRLS BASKETBALL: DAKOTA 59, SOUTH BELOIT 21: The SoBos struggled to generate offense Wednesday night on the road, falling to a strong Dakota team.

South Beloit scored just six points in the second half as Dakota blew the game open. Madison Pasiecznik led the SoBos with eight points.

• HONONEGAH RANKED: The 7-0 Hononegah girls basketball team is currently ranked sixth in the IHSA Class 4A girls basketball poll, which was released this week.

Hononegah will play at Harlem Friday night. NIC-10 rival Boylan, also perfect at 7-0, is ranked ninth in the same poll.
