BELOIT - Senior guard Shelby Kline, who led Beloit College's women's basketball team in scoring, assists and steals a year ago, returns as the Buccaneers host Dominican University tonight at Flood Arena.
Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
A Hononegah High School graduate, earned second team All-Midwest Conference honors for 2017-18 after averaging 15.1 points to rank fourth among MWC scoring leaders. Kline's average of 3.3 assists per game ranked second-best in the league. Her total of 64 steals also was runnerup in the MWC.
In three season, Kine has converted 115 three-pointers, just two shy of the BC career record.
The Bucs finished 4-20 last season and 2-15 in the MWC. They are even lighter on numbers this season with just nine players on the roster. Beloit does return three players who started over 20 games last year: Kline (24), Kelly McLean (22) and Candace Cunningham (21). Cunningham averaged 9.3 points per game.
Also back is Lauren Glaser, who averaged 31 minutes during an injury-plagued season that restricted her to 14 games. Former Clinton High standout Kelly Loudon also returns after missing her freshman season due to injury.
The Bucs will face a Dominican squad with head coach Amanda Parker making her debut. She will guide a young team led by 5-foot-9 junior Timiya Ray, who was All-Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference First Team last season.
