On Sunday, November 3, 2019 Daniel "Doc" Johnson, 58, of Beloit, Wisconsin set aside the cares of this world and fell asleep trusting that the Lord, who had sustained him throughout his life, would surely see him on to his heavenly home.
Daniel was born on October 22, 1961 in Walworth County, Wisconsin, the son of Anna Marie Johnson and Daniel Alvarez. He graduated in 1979 from Beloit Memorial High School. Daniel married Paula Marie (Beiter) Ovist on November 17, 1989 in Beloit and they enjoyed a special bond that spanned 19 years. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2008.
Daniel retired from Rock Road Companies in Janesville, Wisconsin where he had been employed for over 10 years. He took great pride in the fact that the contributions of his hands in laying down roads from Beloit to Janesville benefitted populations of both cities as well as countless visitors. He had previously been employed at Adams Corporation in Beloit and Miniature Precision Components in Walworth, Wisconsin. Daniel was always on the move, but when he stopped it was usually in front of a barbeque grill, poking and turning, towel in hand taking joy in preparing food for others. An avid sports fan Daniel enjoyed the: Cleveland Browns, Milwaukee Bucks, and Kentucky Wildcats.
He is survived by his mother, Anna Marie Johnson of Beloit; an aunt who raised him, Flossie Marshall of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter, Deena (Kenny Harrington) Ovist of Beloit; son, Damien (Erin) Heckelsmiller of Madison, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Darren Misner, Oliver Heckelsmiller, and Adron Heckelsmiller; siblings, Dion (Carletta) Johnson of Indiana, Tina Garrett of Beloit, Robert Johnson of Beloit, Raquel Johnson of Texas, and LaToya Johnson of Beloit; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Moore of Yuma, Arizona, Cynthia Beiter of Beloit, Rebecca (Jim) Halbach of Hanover, Wisconsin, and Carol Beiter of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Tommy (Lynette Mattson) Beiter of Beloit. He will be remembered by his good friends, Glynn Sterling, "Big" Brad Jester, Brad Boyle, Andy and Sandy Whitney, Jack Jacot, and Tony Byrd; Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Paula; brother, Antonio Johnson; maternal grandparents, Dorine Johnson-Bailey and Albert Sidney Johnson; uncle, Albert Johnson; nephew, Jeremy Johnson; brother-in-law, Calvin Garrett; mother-in-law, Peggy Beiter; brother-in-law, Alfred Beiter.
A man of diverse intellect Danny was always quick to share his opinion on a variety of subjects, yet always willing to suffer the opinions of those with whom he shared his own. Though he suffered ill health in his latter years he always had a good word for all and remained a generous soul until his passing. He is sorely missed already.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Beloit Life Center, 2170 Murphy Woods Road, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511.
