Willie "Dimp" Larnell Bond, 72, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Willie was born on February 20, 1947 in Beloit, the son of Oscar and Mary Katherine (Walker) Bond, Sr. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1965 where he excelled in football and track & field setting school records and competing in State Championship meets. Willie was previously married to the former Beverly Johnson, to this union there were three children.

Willie entered the United States Air Force on June 30, 1966. After 21-1/2 years of service to Our Country, Willie retired from the Air force as a Master Sergeant on December 31, 1987. During his military career he served overseas for a total of 6 years including Greece, Turkey, and a tour of duty in Vietnam. Towards the end of his Air Force career, Willie was part of the detail that greeted Marine One upon its return to The White House. After retiring from the Air Force, Willie returned to Beloit and was employed for several years as a shipping department manager at Elder-Beerman Department Store. He then worked for a few years at Motorola Corporation in Harvard, Illinois, and lastly was employed as a salesman at Bryden Motors in Beloit.

Willie loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed collecting comic books, doing puzzles, and spending quiet nights at home watching golf and westerns on television. Willie was a fan of The Oakland Raiders and The Green Bay Packers. Many thought of him as a wonderful role model, friend, and compassionate man.

Willie is survived by his children, Dorian (Sarah) Bond, and Michael (Cherie) Bond all of Phoenix, AZ, and Kristina (Timothy) Murphy of Jackson, TN; his partner of 27 years, Glenda Byrd of Beloit and her daughters, DiEdra Byrd, DiQuashia Byrd, and DaMea Byrd; grandchildren, Emi Bond, Grayson Bond, Timothy James Murphy, Jakarra Byrd, Izhia Byrd, Stacey Dyler, Damisha Taylor, Tyquce Citchen, DaMaris Citchen, Damiya Wyles, Daneya Wyles, Mylaia Byrd, and Draik Hodges; great-grandchildren, Azariyah Williams, Alaiyzhia Williams, Anthony Williams, and Sophia Andrews; siblings, Carolyn (Booker) Street of Beloit, John Bond of Jackson, TN, and Oscar (Janice) Bond of Milwaukee, WI; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts and uncles; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Bond.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home, 424 Prospect Street, Beloit, WI 53511 with Reverend Roy Howard officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Committal at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit will follow the service with military honors conducted by the Mead-Allen, VFW Post 2306 of Beloit.
