Richard L. Konopa, 83, of Anderson, IN passed away on August 9, 2019. He was born on April 27, 1936 in Arpin, WI, and grew up in Beloit, WI. After he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he moved to Anderson to work for Delco Remy Division of General Motors, and retired after 33 years of service.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anderson. Richard liked to bowl, golf, woodwork, fish, camp, and was a world traveler with his lovely wife. He also loved to restore his prized 1953 Studebaker.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patsy (Clippert) Konopa; children, Catherine (Rex) Cooper, Elizabeth (David) Alexander, James (Kathleen) Konopa, Mary (Pat) Geer, William (Pam) Konopa, and Brenda (James) Pence; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, George (Nancy) Konopa, Leroy Konopa, Anthony (Ann) Konopa, and Jerry (Debe) Konopa, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank E. and Leona Konopa; granddaughter, Samantha Konopa, and great-grandson, George Konopa.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2019, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St. Anderson, IN 46013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019, 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anderson with Msgr. Robert Sell III officiating.
Burial will take place in The Gardens of Willowcrest Park in Anderson at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anderson.
