Phyllis J. Starks, 78, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at home in the loving arms of her husband, daughter and cousin.
She was born on March 9, 1941 in Patoka, IN, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Campbell) Bishop. Phyllis was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, Mt. Carmel, IL. She married Norman Starks on July 6, 1974 in Evansville, IN.
Phyllis had several jobs including telephone operator, secretarial, and nurse's aide. She was a member of Shopiere Congregational Church. Phyllis was involved in the church's Care Ministry, Prayer Team, and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Beloit Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and the Red Hat Society. Phyllis enjoyed genealogy, floral painting, movies and reading.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Norman Starks; children, Lawrence (Jane) Jukes Jr. of Champaign, IL, Russell (Anna) Jukes of Bell Rive, IL, Jean (Mark) Jester of Mukwonago, WI, Trisha Bayer of Appleton, WI, and Deena (Mark) Stoddard of Rogers, MO; grandchildren, Laurel, Nicholas, Jarrett, Aaron, Emily, Tessa, Trevor and Tanner; and like a dear sister, Stella Ready of Mt. Carmel, IL.
She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Mildred Campbell Bishop.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI. Phyllis will be laid to rest in Shopiere Cemetery on their 45th wedding anniversary. Visitation of remembrance will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Regional Hospice or the Beloit Chapter D.A.R.
