Clyde LaVern Boutelle, age 88, died in his home in Beloit on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
Clyde was a pillar of the community he loved. He moved to Beloit from Lake Geneva in 1961, where he had been a high school teacher. Clyde had worked as an insurance and real estate broker, and developer of several properties in the Beloit area. He has also been an active community member, serving on the City Council, Police and Fire Commission, and Housing Commission. He has been on the boards of First Presbyterian and and United Church of Beloit. Clyde graduated from Beloit College in 1955, and was presented the Distinguished Service Award by Beloit College Alumni Association. Other local organizations he has served include Rotary Club and YMCA of Beloit.
In both high school and college, Clyde was active in sports, including basketball, football and tennis, where he was often captain of the team. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
His favorite hobby was bicycling with his family. His destinations have included most areas of Wisconsin, and he has crossed several states on his bike. On his 80th birthday, he rode 80 miles across Georgia with his sons Dan and John.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and 4 children and their families: Daniel Boutelle and sons Samuel and Jacob; John Boutelle, wife Jane, and children Nicholas, Ally, and Dana; daughter Elizabeth Boutelle and children Jane and Paul Hulburt; and Sarah Fogelstrom, her husband Jac, and her children Victoria and Jacqueline; Jacqueline's husband Keith Christianson and their daughter Aurora Christianson.
