Dorothy "Dot" Davis, 87, of Beloit, WI died Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Brookdale Assisted Living, Appleton WI.

She was born November 22, 1931 on a farm in Mounds, IL, the 7th child of Christine Beaver Koonce and Edgar Thomas Koonce. Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of Mounds Township High School.

Following graduation, she was employed by Western Union in Waukegan, IL where she met her husband Harold Thomas Davis of Beloit, WI who was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. They were married February 23, 1951 in Waukegan, IL. A daughter Mary Lou was born June 26, 1952 at Great Lakes Naval Hospital.

On November 28, 1955 a son, Sidney Thomas II was born at San Diego Hospital where Harold was stationed following his tour of sea duty.

In 1960 from San Diego, Dorothy and children joined her husband at Adak, AK in the Aleutian Islands where he was stationed on the staff of the Naval Station. While in Adak, Dorothy was employed by the Navy Exchange and helped her husband publish the weekly base newspaper "The Adak Sun" which received many commendations from the Navy Public Information Service.

While Harold completed his last tour with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., Dorothy and the children made a home in Beloit WI. After 20 years of service Harold retired from the Navy in 1966 and returned to Beloit. Dorothy finally got her dream home when they purchased land on Turtle Creek and built a home near Shopiere. This became the "Secret Submarine Base" of the Turtle Creek Navy social club.

A son, Kevin Harold was born February 7, 1967 at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening and canning and was an active member of the Women of the Moose Beloit Chapter #56.

Dorothy retired from the Durst Division of the Regal Beloit Corporation after 31 years.

Survivors include her children, Mary O'Dell, Sid Davis and Kevin Davis (Desiree Savage). Five grandchildren, Belinda Cordina (Matt), Sean O'Dell, Caitlyn O'Dell, Andrea Van Dyn Hoven (Ryan) and Leanne Lemus (Jorge). Seven great grandchildren Lily, Melanie and Charles Cordina. Logan, Ethan and Tatan Van Dyn Hoven and Leonor Lemus. In-laws Cathern Koonce and Marce Mode.

She was predeceased by her parents. Her husband Harold on September 13, 2001. Brothers Harry, Ralph and Charles; sisters Helen Mode, Melinda Voight, Hazel Robertson and Mary Arbon.

Funeral service for Dot will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. with Pastor Walt Hoshaw officiating. Burial will be in Shopiere Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 7th in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Moose Charities, or the Alzheimer's Association
