BELOIT - Police officers are often asked to go above and beyond their duties to help the community.
Even so, it's not often law enforcement personnel moonlight as food delivery staff.
But that's just what happened on Saturday in Beloit.
At around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a call from a resident at a home in the 800 block of McKinley Avenue, who said there was an unidentified person knocking on their door.
When officers arrived on scene, they didn't find a suspicious person or crime in progress. They did find a pizza on the front porch, command staff said.
The officers resisted any urge to snag a slice, but found the correct address and walked the pizza to a home across the street.
The only thing that was arrested for this call was late night hunger, command staff told the paper.
