Police seek information on gunfire incident

BELOIT - Beloit police are seeking information regarding a gunfire incident that occurred Sunday, according to a news release from the department.

At around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Beloit police officers were approaching a large group of people near the intersection of Oak Street and Saint Lawrence Avenue when an officer observed an unidentified man fire a handgun five to six times into the air, according to the news release.

The group quickly scattered and a white sedan was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed, the release said.

A witness said the large group came out of a house in the 400 block of Saint Lawrence and appeared to be arguing.
