Domestic incident turns into pursuit

ROCKTON - A suspect is in custody following an early morning domestic incident that resulted in a woman allegedly being abducted by her ex-boyfriend, according to the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies from Winnebago County responded to the call at around 7:11 a.m. today in Rockford and began a pursuit of a blue Dodge Durango.

According to authorities at the scene, the woman was able to escape from the vehicle while it was in Rockton. Authorities were able to stop the vehicle on Illinois Route 2 between Union Street and Rockton Road.

During the pursuit, a traffic signal at Route 2 and Union Street was damaged, authorities confirmed. Command staff on scene declined to provide the identity of the people involved in the case, citing the ongoing investigation, but confirmed there was no ongoing public threat.

Rockton and South Beloit police along with Winnebago County Sheriff's Department personnel were on the scene.

As of press time, no further details were made available.
