Rockford man accused of abduction captured

ROSCOE - A Rockford man who is accused of the abduction and sexual assault of a woman in Roscoe has been captured in east central Illinois.

Matthew Harkey, 43, was captured in Edgar County this morning, according to a news release from the Roscoe Police Department. Warrants were issued Wednesday for Harkey's arrest on possible charges of home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint and residential burglary, according to a news release from the Roscoe Police Department.

At about 1:34 p.m. on Wednesday, Roscoe police were called to the 5900 block of McDonald Road to find a female victim who had suffered a head injury. An investigation indicated Harkey had abducted the female from a residence in Winnebago County. The woman was able to escape.
