Police investigate homicide in Beloit

The City of Beloit Police Department is investigating a homicide.

Officers responded to the report of a subject down in the 800 block of Vine Street at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The victim, a 28-year-old Janesville man, was dead at the scene, said City of Beloit Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Millard.

It is believed that the suspect(s) and victim knew each other and that there is no direct threat to the public.

Detectives are still investigating and request that anyone with information call 608-757-2244.

More information is expected to be shared during a news conference on Monday afternoon.
