Beloit police, fire commission set to review two promotions

BELOIT - The Beloit Police and Fire Commission will meet Monday to review promotions and probationary updates.

Sgt. David M. Elrod is being recommended for promotion to the rank of lieutenant of patrol and Officer Jon H. Ammeson is recommended for promotion to the rank of sergeant of patrol.

Elrod is a 14-year veteran of the department, overseeing the crisis negotiation team and the evidence technician team. Ammeson is a 19-year patrol officer veteran, an honor guard member and field training officer.

A ceremony for the pair will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the City Hall Forum, 100 State St.

The commission also will consider a resolution to draft a sergeant of patrol promotional eligibility list, according to the agenda.

The Beloit Fire Department will give an update on its probationary employees, with no formal actions to be taken Monday. Fire Chief Brad Liggett will brief the board on its two probationary acting lieutenants; two lieutenants; one deputy chief and one assistant chief probationary position.
