Woman dies following crash on Highway 81

TOWN OF AVON - A Bloomingdale, Illinois woman died following a traffic crash on Highway 81 Friday morning.

Ellen A. Rapacz, 68, died at Mercy Hospital in Janesville following the crash.

The crash occurred at about 8:48 a.m. on Highway 81 east of South Cox Road, according to a Rock County Sheriff's Office news release.

Rapacz was driving her Ford Fusion west on Highway 81 when she crossed the center line and collided with the rear axle of an eastbound semi tractor driven by a 41-year-old man from Antiock, Illinois. Rapacz had to be extricated and she was taken to the hospital where she died.

Emergency medical personnel from the Town of Beloit and Orfordville responded to the scene along with MD-1. Wisconsin State Patrol and Rock County sheriff's deputies also responded.
