Dog rescued from the icy Rock River

TOWN OF BELOIT - A dog was rescued from the freezing waters of the Rock River by the Town of Beloit Fire Department on Wednesday morning, the department said.

The dog was out with her owner on a morning walk and got away and ran into the river, the department said. A neighbor saw the dog and called 911. According to the department, the incident occurred near the Rock River Shores mobile home park along Riverside Drive.

The dog, who was shaken up and cold, was rescued and returned to her owner unharmed, the department said.
