ROCKTON - A Rockton man accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl was found guilty of the crime following a jury trial in Winnebago County.
Judge John Lowry set a sentencing hearing for March 26 for Raul Hernandez Gonzalez, 34.
In October of 2017, Rockton Police and Winnebago County Sheriff's Detectives began investigating allegations of sexual abuse by Gonzalez. The victim told investigators that Gonzalez repeatedly sexually assaulted her between May of 2015 and July of 2017. The victim was only 15 years old when the assaults began in Winnebago County. The investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office and Hernandez Gonzalez was indicted by a Grand Jury.
Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of four to 15 years in prison followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
