The Beloit Rotary Club has recognized Caleb Otto and Diya Patel as Rotary Students of the Week for Beloit Memorial High School.
Caleb Otto is the son of Joel and Jeanne Otto.
Caleb has been a high honor roll student all four years at Beloit Memorial, receiving awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement along with maintaining a cumulative GPA of 4.00. He has received the Superintendent Scholars Award and Department Awards in Math, English and Music. Caleb is a member of the BMHS National Honor Society.
While at BMHS, Caleb has been involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Early Credit Program with UW Rock County and CAPP Spanish with UW Oshkosh. He is a member of the BMHS Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. He has earned various music awards including Outstanding Musicianship, Jazz Improvisation Award, Merit Award, and Merit Recognition Awards with Essentially Ellington.
Athletically Caleb is a member of the BMHS Boys Volleyball, Track, Swim and Dive Teams. In swim Caleb earned the 300 Back Swim Relay Record and the Boys Swim Hardest Worker award. Caleb is the team captain on the Boys Swim team and the Girls Swim team manager.
Outside of BMHS, Caleb has been involved with Outdoor Outreach, Kids Against Hunger, Pine Haven Children's Ranch and volunteering with his church in tech and camera support. He has been a lifeguard and swim instructor with the YMCA and Krueger Pool. He enjoys engineering, auto tech, media production and editing technology.
Caleb's future plans are to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities College of Science and Engineering to major in Engineering.
Diya Patel is the daughter Tejesh and Rimple Patel.
Diya has been a high honor roll student all four years at Beloit Memorial receiving awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement along with maintaining a cumulative GPA of 4.00. She has received the Superintendent Scholars Award, Department Awards in Math and the Perfect Attendance Award. Diya is a member of the BMHS National Honor Society as Vice President and a Beloit College Porter Scholar.
While at BMHS, Diya has been involved in Student Senate as President, Environmental Club as Vice President, Key Club as Vice President, Link Crew and the Zonta Club as Vice President. She is the HHES Academy Committee Student Representative and the Superintendent's Student Advisory.
Athletically Diya is a member of the Girls Tennis Team.
Outside of BMHS, Diya volunteers at the Beloit Public Library and is involved in Biztank.
Diya is planning to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to major in Biological Sciences to become an orthodontist.
