BELOIT - The Stateline Community Foundation has awarded Beloit Memorial High School $3,000 to provide assistance with the Challenge Academy program. Challenge Academy is an alternative pathway for students to graduate from high school. Students spend five and a half months at Fort McCoy working on their GED and learning life skills. In addition, community members serve as mentors for a duration of 18 months.
The grant will be used to enhance the mentor-mentee relationship and provide resources such as transportation. Thirty students participated in the Challenge Academy program last year.
If you are interested in mentoring, please contact Susan Bailey at 608-361-4360 or John Kaminski at 608-361-3017. Additional information pertaining to the Wisconsin Challenge Academy can also be found at www.wisconsinchallengeacademy.org.
