Free camping available for veterans June 14

Forest Preserves of Winnebago County will offer free camping for U.S. veterans on Flag Day, June 14. The offer entitles veterans to one campsite with one camping unit and one bundle of free firewood. Electric and primitive campsites are available.

Descriptions and 360 degree panoramics of Hononegah, Seward Bluffs and Sugar River campgrounds are available at winnebagoforest.org.

It is preferred that veterans contact the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County administration office between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday to make arrangements for a free campsite prior to registering at the campground or online.
