Knights of Columbus award student scholarships

BELOIT - Knights of Columbus Council #605 announced this years recipients of scholarships from the council.

Recipients are graduating seniors from area high schools who were asked to write a brief essay on their thoughts or experiences with one of the tenants of the Knights. These tenants are charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

The recipients are Avery Mark from Janesville Craig High School, Maria Matuska and Emily McCabe from Hononegah High School, Gabriel McKearn, Elizabeth Sage and Hanna Wilson from Beloit Memorial High School and Sierra Miller from Beloit Turner High School.

Since its inception in 2009, Council #605's scholarship has awarded over $7,000 to graduating seniors from eight different schools in the Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois area.
