Shopko awards grant for author visit

Photo provided (From left): Ben Broge, Beloit Shopko manager, presents a check in the amount of $1,000 to Susan Anderson to go towards a visit by author Dusti Bowling, who will visit with students at Clinton Middle and Elementary Schools, as well as Phoenix Middle School of Delavan. Bowling's novel, "Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus," is being read by both student groups for the Battle of the Books competition on May 3. Bowling will present to students and staff, as well as autograph her novel, that day. Anderson, a library media specialist for both districts, wrote and received a grant from the Shopko Foundation to help fund the visit.
