ROCKTON - As part of its second Sunday programming series, Macktown Living History presents Black Powder Sunday from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Macktown Forest Preserve, 2221 Freeport Road, Rockton.
Visitors can learn about the history of gunpowder and muzzleloading firearms. This free event is geared towards adults and children ages 10 and older. The historic buildings and the settlement grounds will also be open.
The Macktown Historic Site is the site of the oldest settlement in Winnebago County. The preserved Mack home, trading post, school house and Native American artifacts help tell the story of this cultural site.
