'Traffic barrels a major pain'

Print Article

Both of us want to comment on the lack of getting the "lovely" construction barrels removed from Prairie Avenue. This "crew" has been finished with almost everything, save a few minor spots. And yet, these "obstacles" continue to be left up for people, driving in either direction, to avoid.

I have personally contacted the Beloit Engineering Department to try to get an answer as to why these people have not removed the barrels. I was told over a week ago that the head of this project was told to remove all of them except the ones that "needed" to be there. I drive on this street almost every day and one lane in each direction continues to be blocked. I have lost count with how many times I have contacted the engineering department and now, recently, the city manager's office.

Even after all of this, and this has been going on, probably, for close to two weeks now, nothing is being done. Many of these barrels have been knocked over and/or dented. I "applaud" those drivers that have done so. This situation is ridiculous. Why should anyone have to watch out for these things?

This street has been a major pain for anyone that lives off of it. We have never seen an organization that displays such a lack of professionalism. It would be "miracle" if this situation was resolved by the end of this week.
