Hats off to the Beloit police and fire departments for promptly evacuating a twelve square block east side residential area.
Wednesday night, August 7, a major gas line had ruptured after a speeding car crashed into a gas junction at the corner of White Avenue and Woodard. Police and fire personnel went door to door, at midnight, telling residents to immediately evacuate and walk three blocks north.
One only needs to recall the major explosion that occurred a year ago in Sun Prairie to realize how fortunate residents including myself and my wife were. Hopefully, in the near future, Alliant Energy will surround that gas junction with appropriate protection.
