'Our government should be better'

Print Article

I am ashamed and heartbroken to see the stories and pictures of the way immigrant children are being treated at our southern border.

It is inhumane to crowd children (or adults) into cages without soap and water, clean clothes, adequate food or medical care. Children are separated from their parents; they are getting sick and dying in these cages. Our government should be better than this.

I understand the border patrol is overwhelmed; they're doing the best they can. It is the policies of the Trump administration that are causing most of these problems.

People could be released to sponsors until their court date comes up, so they wouldn't have to suffer in filthy cages. This cruel treatment has to stop.
