Perhaps never before has a school board election been more critical to the future of Beloit than the one we face in April.
With a new superintendent in charge come July, the issue for Beloit schools is not to "rearrange the chairs on the deck of the Titanic." It is, instead, to "rebuild the ship." That means big, bold changes. Changes such as strong, consistent discipline, creating caring learning environments, and policies that are consistently and directly enforced, from the top down.
Teachers need to be able to teach in safe learning environments, with total support from principals, administrators, and the superintendent. Teachers must know the principal has his/her back.
Policy is set by the board and administrators make sure it's carried out with consistency.
Promises are always made by all candidates. It's important to look at them, but we look deeper into character, action and track record. John Wong and Pam Charles have those attributes. We know them both professionally and personally. They are the best choice to rebuild this ship of the Beloit School District. Because if this ship doesn't sail well, Beloit will fail. A community is only as good as its schools. Currently, they aren't good enough.
Vote for two people who will right this ship! Vote for John Wong and Pam Charles. As life-long Beloiters, we urge you to do so. Nothing is more important for our community and its future.
