DENVER (AP) _ BioScrip Inc. (BIOS) on Friday reported a loss of $15.4 million in its fourth quarter.

The Denver-based company said it had a loss of 14 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.

The infusion and home care services company posted revenue of $183.6 million in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $188.1 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $51.7 million, or 49 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $708.9 million.

The company's shares closed at $3.49. A year ago, they were trading at $2.70.
