Knights fall to powerful Wildcats

BELOIT - The Beloit Memorial girls volleyball team ran into a juggernaut Thursday night, and the results weren't pretty.

The 28-2 Verona Wildcats stormed into Barkin Arena and came away with a 25-9, 25-18, 25-9 victory.

The Wildcats, one of the top teams in Wisconsin, got eight kills from both Maddy Kelley and Megan Touchett and 16 assists from Jordan Armstrong to pace the attack.

Beloit was led by Rebekkah De Kok's eight kills, while Meghan Drucker finished with 11 assists and Lindsey Gama had four kills.

The Purple Knights will be back in action Tuesday when they host Janesville Parker.

• BRODHEAD 3, EVANSVILLE 0: The Cardinals continued their strong season with a sweep over the Blue Devils Thursday night.

Brodhead was led by senior Abbey Johnson, who collected 21 assists, eight kills, six digs and three aces.

Lexy Oliver had seven kills and five aces while Madisyn Kail had 11 assists.

• BIG FOOT 3, WHITEWATER 0: The Chiefs improved to 5-3 in Rock Valley Conference play with a 25-23, 25-20, 26-24 win over the Whippets.

It was the sixth straight win for Big Foot, who was led by senior Kampbell Hehr. She finished with 17 assists and 13 kills, while Sophia Foster led the way with 21 digs.

• EAST TROY 3, BELOIT TURNER 0: East Troy defeated Turner 25-8, 25-9, 25-8 to improve to a perfect 8-0 in RVC play.

Emily Wendt finished with 30 assists and Bina Sauric had 13 kills to lead East Troy.
