BMHS spikers swept by Madison Memorial

MADISON, Wis. - The Beloit Memorial girls volleyball team was swept on the road by a powerful Madison Memorial team Tuesday night.

The Purplwe Knights were downed 25-14, 25-20, 25-12. Rebekkah De Kok led the Knights in kills with eight and in blocks with two. Meghan Drucker added a pair of aces and 19 assists, while Kylee Arn finished with seven digs.

Beloit will be back in action Thursday when they host Verona.

• MCFARLAND 3, CLINTON 0: The Spartans swept the host Cougars Tuesday night, winning 25-12, 25-18, 25-17.

The Cougars were led by Emma Brewer's five kills and two blocks. Grace Farrell led the team with five assists.

• IHSA GOLF: The Hononegah boys golf team advanced to the IHSA Class 3A sectional golf meet by finishing second in Tuesday's regional meet.

The Indians finished with a team total of 319, 14 strokes behind first-place DeKalb.

Senior Jacob McCabe led the way for the Indians, shooting a 73 which placed him second for the meet.

Other Indians of note included Drew Grygiel (76), Alex Cortez (85) , Alex Thompson (85) and Adam He (86).

• CROSS COUNTRY: The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals came in second place in Tuesday's triangular meet, as Evansville took home both the boys and girls team titles.

Parkview's Noah Lutzke led the local boys with a second-place finish with a time of 17:35. Jacob Staffon led the Cardinals, finishing third with a 17:55, while teammate Trenton Condon was right behind him in third with a 17:58.

On the girls side, Madelynn McIntyre won the race with a 19:32, while Parkview's Lexy Olson finished in third with a 20:47.

• TENNIS: The Beloit Memorial tennis team was eliminated from competition at Tuesday's WIAA Division 1 subsectional.

The Knights were led by Nishani Patel, the only Beloit player to win a match. Patel, playing No. 4 singles, defeated Mckenna Kellogg of Janesville Parker 6-3, 6-2 before being eliminated by Elkhorn's Abigail Barkes 6-1, 6-0.
