BMHS girls come close, but fall, 3-2

BELOIT - Beloit Memorial's girls volleyball team fell just short of its first Big Eight Conference victory of the season Thursday night.

The Purple Knights fell 3-2 to visiting Madison La Follette at Barkin Arena. They dropped the decisive fifth set, 15-9.

The Knights had a nightmare start, losing the first game 25-9. They rebounded for wins of 25-18 and 25-23 before the Lancers evened the match with a 25-16 win.

Beloit Memorial was led by Rebekkah De Kok's 15 kills. Meghan Drucker finished with 24 assists, while Brynn Swanson finished with 18 digs and nine kills. Kylee Arn had three aces while Adi Renteria added a pair of blocks.

• WHITEWATER 3, BELOIT TURNER 0: The Trojans were swept by the visiting Whippets, losing 25-14, 25-20, 25-20.

Turner was led by Madison Covey's seven digs. Gabbi Gaziano finished with three kills while Gracie DezWarte had five assists.

• BRODHEAD 3, CLINTON 0: The Cardinals moved to 2-0 in Rock Valley Conference play with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-18 win over host Clinton.

Senior Abbey Johnson led Brodhead with four aces, 11 kills, 18 assists and 11 digs. Madisyn Kail added 12 assists and five digs for Brodhead.

Clinton's Kallie Inman had nine digs, five aces and seven assists while Molly Kemp had six kills and five blocks.

• EAST TROY 3, BIG FOOT 0: The Chiefs fell to 0-2 in RVC play after being beaten 25-18, 25-13, 25-19 by the powerful Trojans.

Sophia Foster had 24 digs for the Chiefs, while Kampbell Hehr had 11 assists and seven kills.
