Man struck by semi while changing tire

EDGERTON - An Illinois man who was reportedly changing a flat tire on his car on Interstate 39 this morning died when he was hit by a semi-truck, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The incident occurred at about 3:48 a.m. today in the northbound lane of the interstate at mile marker 164.9 near Edgerton.

A 59-year-old man from Hoffman, Illinois was changing a tire on an Infinity car when a semi truck driven by a 30-year-old man from Fitchburg struck him.

Edgerton and Janesville fire departments sent emergency medical personnel and officials from the Rock County Sheriff's Office and the Rock County Medical Examiner's Office also were on the scene.
