Crime of the Week

On Sept. 10 at approximately 7 p.m., a man attempted to buy merchandise using a counterfeit $100 bill at a Beloit business.

The cashier used a counterfeit detector pen on the bill and it did not show that the bill was counterfeit. However, when the cashier looked closely at the bill, the physical characteristics did not appear to be that of a normal $100 bill. Once the subject was questioned about the bill he immediately left the store leaving the counterfeit money and merchandise behind.

The Beloit Police Department is seeking more information on the subject. He was described as a black male with dreadlocks and a mustache in his late teens or early 20s.

If anyone has information relating to this incident, please contact the Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers program at 608-362-7463 or www.p3tips.com. You can also download the tip reporting program at your phone's app or play store.
